Base Energy aspires to be a leading producer of energy. Incorporated in 2009, we are a CH Group subsidiary. Our current strategy is to acquire interests in shallow water and land oil and gas assets, with existing discoveries, and continue to invest in appraisal or further exploration to accelerate commercialism.

Through innovation, we specialise in reducing time from exploration/appraisal to production and thrive to be a leading low cost, safe and efficient operator.

Base Energy is inviting interested parties to invest in the Expanded Shallow Water Tano Block (ESWT) offshore in Ghana. ESWT consists of three discovered oil and gas fields, comprising 1500 sq.kms in water depths ranging from 55 to 116 meters.

Michael Mensah (Managing Director)

Michael is an energy executive with over 25 years of experience in operational and leadership roles. Michael commenced his career as a reservoir engineer with Phillips Petroleum working in their international business unit and worked his way up the organization to SVP Operations overseeing all South American offshore operations from exploration to production.

From operations he joined their Tactical Investment Unit where he evaluated and negotiated on mergers and acquisitions for the Group. He is particularly experienced in asset valuations. He has a Mechanical Engineering degree and an MBA from the University of California Los Angeles.

Michael also worked for the likes of PEMEX, PDVSA and Apache. He joined Base Energy in January 2021.

Delali Afetornu (Joint Venture Manager)

Delali is a Professional Business Developer with over 16 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He has in-depth experience and knowledge in business management, marketing, negotiations, business administration and investor relations.

Delali commenced his career as a Marketing and Operations Manager with Kaysens Oil Marketing Company. He has also worked for Blue Ocean Investment(Trafigura), and Puma Energy Distribution Ghana (Trafigura).

Delali has a Bachelor Degree in Marketing and an MBA from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (Gimpa). He joined CH Group in May 2021 as the Group Business Development Manager with JV relations responsibility for Base Energy.

Naa Tackie (Group Manager, Legal and Compliance)

Naa have over fifteen 15 years of rich experience in Corporate and Commercial law practice. Naa started her legal career as a State Attorney at the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General’s Department after which she spent a couple of years with C&J Group as In-House Solicitor taking the lead in setting up their In-house Legal and Compliance department.

She also worked as part of the Legal team of Cirrus Oil Services Limited. Naa holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Social Science from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Ghana, Legon.

She also holds a Qualifying Certificate in Law/Barrister-at-law from the Ghana School of Law and a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in International Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law from the University of Ghana, Legon.

Anass Nii-Armah Ammah (Lead Geophysicist)

Anass is a Geophysicist with over 14 years of experience in various sectors of the extractive industry. He has worked in the exploration of various minerals, groundwater as well as the oil and gas industry. Anass commenced his career as a field acquisition and processing geophysicist with Geotech Airborne Limited, working in several African countries.

Prior to working for Base Energy, he worked with Tullow Ghana Limited, as an exploration geophysicist, mapping and evaluating near-field opportunities, as well as regional-scale exploration with experience in almost all the offshore basins of Ghana.

Anass took a keen interest in the quantitative interpretation aspect of geophysics and led the geophysical study and evaluation of one of the key blocks, during the first bidding round for offshore blocks organised in Ghana. He provided high-quality, timely, and focused geophysical support to an intense infill drilling campaign.

Ebo Nyarko (Geologist)

Ebo is a Geologist with over five years experience in the oil and gas industry and a good understanding of Ghana’s sedimentary basins.

Ebo previously worked as an assistant geologist with GNPC Explorco where he provided expertise on several assets in the Tano Basin.

Prior to joining Base Energy, Ebo worked with Fontini Cristi Holding Limited, an upstream advisory and consultancy firm where he provided advisory services and acted as technical advisor in the application and negotiations for an offshore block for one of its clients.

Ebo holds a BSc. Earth Science and MSc. Petroleum Geoscience both from the University of Ghana, Legon.
